Had a great time up at Muskie Bay and would like to thank all that attended as well as Jake, Ashley, Robin, Becky and everyone who helped out at Muskie Bay Resort.

Every day was a little colder until it bottomed out at -37F on Sunday morning when we were packing up to leave! Despite the cold, the conditions were awesome--tons of ice with only about 2" of crusty snow on the ice made it ideal to travel in any fashion you wished. With the cold, we preferred our trucks! There are a lot of ice heaves, but with three feet of ice they are not a problem--just drive over or around them.

The extreme cold/high pressure had the trout a little off, but we still put a bunch on the ice. Most of the fish were in the 6# class with Judd Genereaux landing the biggest with a 10# class fish. 4"Power Tubes in white or 4"Lindy Squids in Moonlight (glow) or silver pearl worked the best--as long as you had a stinger hook attached to the back of them. Don't know if it was the weather or what, but a lot of them were just hitting the tentacles on the tubes and not finding the single hook--but they did find the stinger :-)

Crappie fishing was awesome. Lots of fish and a lot in the 11"-12" range with a couple 15"ers mixed in. No one cracked 16", but you can't complain with the size, quality (wide body fish) and quantity. Everything was working and most people were upsizing their tackle and using more tackle suitable for perch or walleye fishing to eliminate some of the smaller fish and just target the bigger fish.

I had so much fun, and friends and co-workers wanted to come up but couldn't for the Outing, that we're going to have a little 'unofficial' Outing the 23-25 of Feb and am probably going to be heading up the night of the 22nd so we can be on the ice right away in the morning. I first off want to thank Brett and all the guest for coming up and making this outing the best one yet. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did even with the cold temps. I cant wait for next years outing now. Once again thank you to everyone and I hope to see everyone back again next year.
