on the river up by Elk River, and managed to scrape up a couple of 17 inch smallies, and a bonus 5 lb.northern pike on a white, single bladed buzzbait. The fish were caught near a shoreline eddie with a gravel bottom, and some shoreline vegetation helped to hold the fish there.I was only out for a couple of hours, and spent way too much time contending with trolling motor problems. But I got it together towards the of the trip and put a couple in the boat. Nice day to be out there on the river.
Lucky! It was a great day outside. Too bad I had to work all day. Then I had a soccer game to watch for my middle one. The highlight was a trip to Cabelas to try and find some stuff and let the young one do the lazer shooting gallery.
Water levels are dropping slowly. Current is coming through at a moderate clip.Levels are no where near the usual low water of mid- summer. There is still time to get the boat into some areas before it drops too much.
