Brrr! Temps in the 50's and 60"s, drizzle, rain, and an east wind from 10-20 mph. Sounds like a perfect day for a 10-hour float trip! Took the new Clackacraft down the river Sunday...and we were the only guys out there. Got a few good smallies in the 16-18 inch range on poppers, some mid-size fish, and a bunch of very young fish. The river is still low...the heavy rain missed the upper Mississippi again. It did look quite a bit clearer, though, and the temp dropped a bit. Tough weather, but that's how you get 9 miles of good water to yourself.

Follow-up 8/31/07...In the Monticello area, try small yellow poppers, hoppers, chernobyl ants, etc. Even the bigger fish seem to be keying on smaller flies.
