Does the store offer any payment plans on merchandise, or no? I expect a no but I've been surprised by you guys before. Fargo Rx: Acute Hydrophilia |

Yes, we have a layaway plan. Typically, customers put 25% to 50% down, and pay the balance in about 6 months. Thanks! Scott

Sorry to dig up this old thread but since I have a question I thought it would be OK! I have attempted fly fishing on the Mississippi the last two years heading out from the park right in Monticello and also from the park that is closer to the power plant.
I am using flys that I purchased from your store recommend to me by your staff. I have only had a few strikes over the last couple years and I am wondering if I am casting to the proper section of the river. In general I will wade in to the river about knee deep and cast upstream both to the shore and out into deeper water. I'm not sure if I should be staying closer to shore and casting out or maybe moving further out and casting into the shore. I am also not sure if this section of the river is a good fishing spot, I do know that a lot of anglers seem to fish further down at the park by the hospital. I'm not sure if you can have much success walking out like this or if I need to start using a boat to get more bites. I know that I am asking quite a few questions but any help would be appreciated. I have fish for 25+ years on lakes in Minnesota and Wisconsin but river fishing is new to me and I seem to have a lot of catching up to do! Also wanted to say thanks for all your help every time I have been in your store and the fly casting class I took last year has really helped my casting! |

Hi- Big river fishing is very different. Current seams, shelves, and the channel are the things to consider. The surface water will offer clues to what is below. We fish primarily from boats, and cover miles of river in a few hours. You may need to walk either upstream or down to the rapids below to catch fish in that section consistently. The channel is all the way on the other side at the park...you can't wade to it. Watch other anglers. You may also try wade fishing at Montissippi park up a few miles. River smallmouth move around a lot. Hope it helps. Thanks, Scott
