Summer is just flying by! We are just over a month away from the Rough Rock Rumble! The 'Rumble' is Thorne Bros ‘All-Species’ Outing
over August 18-25 up at Rough Rock Lodge on the Winnipeg River in Ontario, Canada Join Thorne Bros staffers at this peak summer time in Canada at Rough Rock Lodge where John and Sandy Kugler will be hosting us for a week of walleye, smallmouth bass, muskie and pike fishing in the Rough Rock area of the Winnipeg River. The fish here are known to grow to trophy proportions here and they are typically very fat fish. There are very few places that have the diversity of fish types and abundance that Rough Rock has. Walleye fishing is phenomenal! The Outing is a Fisherman’s Plan stay where supper is provided. We have moved this trip up to take advantage of the awesome topwater bite that the smallies and muskies have at this time of year. For Walleyes, bring lots of plain lead head jigs in the 1/2oz range and tip them with minnows, Gulp!Minnows or Grubs or bring some 2-3oz bottom bouncers and spinner rigs to use with minnows or Gulp!Nightcrawlers. For Smallmouth Bass, Pop’Rs and Gambler 3”Ugly Otters rigged weedless were our hottest baits last year. Jerkbaits, deeper diving crankbaits and tube jigs rigged weedless with a Lindy EZ-Tube weight are also very productive. For Muskies and Pike, be ready for anything! Typically, this time of year the topwater bite is awesome early and late in the day. Mid-size Lowriders and Jackpots are usually our go-to baits at this time. During the middle of the day, Double Cowgirls, Bull Dawgs, 10”Jakes, 7.5”A-P-Lures and M&G or CJ’s Spinnerbaits work well. The price for the Rough Rock Rumble is $1199.99 per person and includes lodging, linens, supper, rental boat and all taxes. If you bring your own boat, the price is $899.99 and includes dockage. All prices are in U.S. Dollars. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required. Sorry, no credit cards. Guests are liable for all damages to rentals. Rental boats, guides, minnows, gas, beer, lunches and licenses are available at the lodge. To book your trip, call John or Sandy at Rough Rock Lodge at 807-224-3403.
