I am wanting some info on what I need in a new custom musky rod.
The rod I would like to have built would be fished out of a 14 foot jon boat, on a small river, and the baits mainly thrown are tandem vibrax bucktails and 206-208 Crane baits.
I like a longer rod and at this time I have 2 St Croix Classic Cat CC80H rods (mainly my catfish rods of course) that I use to throw my heaviest baits with, a St Croix PC70HF that I like to use with my mid-sized topwater baits (topraiders...), a St. Croix telescoping AC710HF that I use with my jerk/glide baits, and my favorite rod is a St. Croix PM70MH that I am throwing my Cranes, bucktails, and smaller baits with.
What would be your recommendation for a custom rod and what would be the price range?
Later, MontyK3.

I couldn't help you out with what specific action your looking for Monty since I just recieved my first Thorne Bros. custom rod and have not used it yet, but I can tell you that the build quality is second to none. The attention to detail will blow you away and Lonnie is very easy to work with. I asked him if he would spiral wrap the guides on my new rod and when it showed up at the door a couple weeks later I was floored by how perfect the wrap was. It's the first time I have ever heard my wife say "Wow. That is a beautiful rod".
Of couse the real test will be getting it on the water, but we'er about a month and a half before ice out here.

Please practice catch-and-release

Monty,
Thank you for your inquiry. We'll get you hooked up with our Rod Shop soon. It is just taking a little bit to get a separate e-mail for Lonnie Murphy from our Rod Shop set up online so he can post on the message board. If you can't wait, give him a call at 763-572-3782.
Thank you,
Brett Erickson

I am looking to buy a custom musky rod. Love the St. Croix, but not fan of the colors. Any options. Also, I'm sure that TB must have endless photos of their finished custom rods, but I can't seem to find any on this site. I think a photo of the rod should be everyone's avatar.
