Hey guys I am in the market for a new rod and I am having a hard time deciding which of the custom Thorne Brothers Rods I want to order. I will be using it almost solely for gills and I guess I am hung up on what length to get. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you fish inside a portable or out on the ice more?

A shorter rod, like a 19-inch Finesse Plus or a 24-inch Sweet Thing, would be prefered inside a portable, especially for bluegills. I'm a big fan of the 19-inch Finesse Plus with a panfish spring bobber when targeting gills.

If you're an outside type of ice angler, then I would consider a longer rod, more on the lines of a 32 or 36-inch Panfish Sweetheart. However, I use the 24-inch and 28-inch rods outside quite a bit as well.

If it was me, I would probably go with the 24-inch Sweet Thing as the most versatile bluegill rod. Add a panfish spring bobber and you're ready to rock!
