The Lindy/Systems Tackle Walleye Flyers are great baits for lakers, walleyes, salmon, pike and even muskies, but I am not a big fan of the hook they put on them. Once you put a hunk of plastic on them, there is almost no hook showing because the gap is so small on them. After some tinkering, I figured out how to increase the gap--and increasing hookups!

Here is how the Walleye Flyer normally looks.

Start by bending the hook open by pinching it with a pliers in the bend of the hook just behind the barb.

Then grab the hook with the pliers as shown and give it a bend forward.

When you're done, it should look something like this and the gap should be CONSIDERABLY larger than when you started. Give it a try and I think you will like the better hooking power this gives the Walleye Flyer.
