Have been using green braid from Gander Mountain that they wind and havent had any real prob except very wet to use...See a lot of hipe about Power Pro and also Spiderwire invisiwire and wondered what you would recommend and why..They seem to be about the same price etc..Also winding on a ABU 5500 and 6500 and wondering if either will fill the spools with 125 yards...Many thanks
Smokey, The best two lines out there IMO are the tuff line plus 80lb or 100lb and my favorite: Cortland Master Braid Bronzeback in 80lb. You generally want to get 100 yds of the braid on the spool. To do that you first back it with a 14lb mono of whatever. This saves you $, prevents slippage and your really only going to use 30-40 yds of it anyway. Bring the reels into thorne and we can spool em for ya and this way you can see how to back it as well. Chris Britton
125 yds won't fill the reel all of the way on its own, but you don't need more then that. Just find some old mono and put that on as backing (about halfway up the spool) then tie the superline to that. The moment you see the backing, is when you need to respool.
I use Tuff plus (which is white like the invisibraid) and cortland masterbraid. I would advise you to stay away from power pro, as my experience with it is that it digs into the spool easier on backlashes and seems to snap with more ease while casting.
hope this helps

If you are signed up to recieve our e-mail flyer, there is a great deal on 80#Tufline Plus and 80# and 100# Tufline XP. They are 100yd spools that are normally around $15 each. We got a great buy on them and have them for $6.99 each or 3 for $15. Great chance to spool up with fresh line and save some money!!! Brett Erickson
For info I put the 80 lb invisabraid on a abu garcia 6500 c3 and it easily filled it up with no backing at all....actually a little too much...Thanks again..
hey smokey, the main reason backing is placed on the spool is to keep line from slipping. the super lines will slip on that spool without any backing....and they slip a lot. Chris Britton
