I’m looking for advice on a new muskie / pike rod to pair with a new Curado 300 reel. The two that are currently my top options are a Shimano Compre 7ft MH Med action or the Diamondback 7ft 6 light bucktail. I will use this setup for small / midsize bucktails, spinnerbaits and topwaters. I have a Compre 7ft MH Med fast action paired with a Abu C5 6600 and a Thorne Bros 7ft 10 with a Abu EXT 6600, both of which I love. My questions basic question is: With the Diamondback priced at 2X the Compre, is it worth the extra $100 bucks? Thanks in advance for the help and advice. See you at the Sportsmens Show.

there is a pretty big difference between the two rods..... i think. The main one is wieght. Diamondbacks are one of the lightest rods out there today with really good action and feel. for the smaller stuff, i think the db is a better option. maybe think about looking at a longer rod for this stuff. the advantages are huge. much longer casts/easier hooksets/better figure 8's......8"9" and higher. The new G-loomis steel 15 or 20 blank is a very good option for that use too. just some ideas.
