First post here, didn't see a thread that talked about shore-fishing. I'm a recent college grad with a lot of time on my hands, but I don't have access to a boat. I'd really like to catch a decent fish this summer, the largest muskie I've caught was only a 30" Tiger. I've got a decent selection of lures and a couple of nice muskie combos, I just need a decent lake to fish.
I've fished Bush Lake and Lake Harriet quite a bit in years past, but haven't had too much luck. I'm looking for a lake that has a decent amount of shoreline to fish. It also seems like casting from shore isn't always the best option, would you guys recommend sucker minnows as opposed to casting at some lakes? I'd really appreciate any advice you guys can offer. -Nate |

hey nate,
i did pretty good catching tigers and a lot of other things on lake nokomis when i was a kid. just walking the wall and wading out on the sandy areas. same with harriet and calhoun. the inside weededge is fairly wide, so you can get a decent cast without getting into the milfoil. britt |

You can wade around virtually the entire city lakes like harriet, calhoun etc. I have caught muskies from the north end of harriet and the south of calhoun from shore doing this. Crystal in Robbinsdale has pretty good shore fishing opportunities as well for tigers. Fishing after it rains near a drainage inlet after a good rain is good times.
