Hi all,
I'm brand new to this Message Board and this seems to be the right place to get some info. I'm planning my first trip to Bay of Quinte later this summer. Mainly for Walleyes. Could anyone suggest lodging and most of all when would be a good time to make this trip? What baits work well there? I'm mainly a jig fisherman, but can also get into live bait if that is better. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Nissan |

Nissan, There are huge eyes in those waters late in the fall. Not sure how it really is in the summer. Many of the shows like In-Fisherman,
The Next Bite etc, have done fall filming cause of the size that can be caught. If you put a thread on the Next Bite board I'm sure you will get some onfo. I'm more of a hard core musky guy, but I love chasing those fall walleye biggies. They are awesome on Quinte. In the late fall those eyes move from Lake Ontario through the Adolphus Channel-I think the channel is about 60-miles long. Some use boards and some flat-line. Lures: Manns + 20's, Rapala Deep Tail Dancers in various colors. Oh, Rapala Husky Jerks is another. I really only know a little about the Fall trolling, and thought I would give you this info, in case you decide to go in late fall. There is a guide, Capt, Rick Johnson (613)393-3767 that is supposed to be good (this is only what I've heard from others). You could find more info on the web I suppose. Also, check out Merland Park Cottages on the web. They are on Pickton Bay-less than a mile east of Pickton, Ontario. I emailed the owner for info and he sent me good info. The only reason I know a little of the Bay of Quinte is that I live about an hours drive away. Hope this helps. Al. |
